I started creating self-portraits when I was 17, in the hopes of learning how to create whimsical worlds on Photoshop. By using myself as the model, I felt no pressure to ensure the idea worked.

...and here, are a few of my favourites:

Fairytale.jpg

I used a series of images to create this, which involved making a larger window, and inserting all the elements (plants, staircase, myself, etc) into it.

watercolored that little bird! I wanted to push the boundaries of how real I could make painted elements seem, by means of the reflections made in the window.
(it was also a rainy day, and I hate taking photos indoors. this was my way of trying to bring the outdoors, indoors).

kangaroo.jpg

This was made during the lockdown, 2020. As everyone knows, we hardly saw anyone and hardly dressed up.. as there was no where to go.

Being in that circumstance, I felt the need to share my little bubble in my backyard. Where I was getting dressed up with the ones I was able to see - my local kangaroos.

I was 17 here. As you can see, there is hardly any photoshopping used here. I wasn't sure if it was going to work - would I even be in focus? - and I have to say, it was exhausting running, climbing and posing for a ten second timer.

In the post-production, I played with the colours for ages. I wanted to try and create a whimsical look, without trying 'too' hard.

magpie (1).jpg

The magpies here are painted by means of watercolour. This was the first image that I created that mixed both watercolour and photography together. I wasn't sure if it was going to work at the time.

My most recent image; creating a world inside the studio.
